What I Believe

  1. Every person matters.
  2. Every moment matters.
  3. Presence is a choice.
  4. True presence allows us to recognize and receive what the moment holds.
  5. People and their stories deserve room.
  6. Listening with care is one way we honour another person.
  7. Dignity does not depend on an outcome, closure or visible progress.
  8. Ordinary encounters can carry significance.
  9. We should respond to what the moment requires—not what makes us appear important.
  10. Helping someone know they have been seen may be the complete gift.

These beliefs were not formed at a distance. In one year alone, I led 125 funerals through a single funeral home. Every call belonged to a different family and a life that could not be reduced to the volume of the work. Repeated responsibility did not make those moments ordinary. It taught me how much care was required to keep seeing the person within them.

At the root of these beliefs is my faith. I exist to glorify God by loving God and loving others as Jesus commanded. I want that love to be recognizable in the room I make, the care with which I listen and the dignity I offer every person.

I will not always know what a moment will become. I can choose how I meet it.
